Pathology:
Fibrinous pericarditis
- Usually results from hematogenous microbial infections
- No distension of the pericardial sac is expected, due to minimal exudation of fluid
Gross Lesions:
Gray-white fibrin that gives a "bread and butter" appearance when the pericardium and epicardium are pulled apart
