Endocarditis
- Generally bacterial in cause, but may be parasitic or mycotic
- Lesions primarily on found on the valves
- Mitral valve most commonly affected in most species
- In cattle, the tricuspid valve is most commonly affected.
Gross Appearance:
Irregular yellow-red or yellow-gray vegetations on the valve leaflets, with underlying ulcerations
Clinical Signs:
Pyrexia, lameness, cardiac murmurs, death
