Malignant aortic body tumour (chemodectoma) invading the pulmonic valve
Pathology:
Aortic body tumour
- Brachycephalic breeds are highly predisposed
- Arise from the chemoreceptor tissue
- Grow slowly and can put pressure on the atria and vena cava
- Are non-functional but may cause issues as space-occupying lesions
Gross Lesions:
Single masses or multiple nodules within the pericardial sac, at the base of the heart
