Hoof
Shown:
Suppurative arthritis secondary to trauma
Plain-Language Description:
The top/upper surface of the foot shows raw open wound areas with bloody material coming from them. When the pathologist probed they found a hole with a channel or "tract" leading into the deeper tissues. The hole was probably where a sharp object poked in causing a deep infection.
Pathology Description:
On the dorsal aspect of the metacarpus above the coronary band there is a 2.0cm flap of tissue associated with a draining tract exuding opaque red fluid.
